The Bank Central abolished the fixed exchange rate policy for the South Sudanese Pounds to the US Dollar.

Central Bank Governor Cornelio Koriom says a floating exchange will start on December 15, Radio Bakhita reports.

The move is to get rid of the black market for trading the Dollars, he says.

Koriom admits that in the beginning there will be challenges on the prices of imported commodities in short term and people will realize its benefits after long period.

One US Dollar is now buying 18.5 South Sudan Pounds.
