SPLA soldiers have been arresting local youth following last week’s attack on a military barracks in Eastern Equatoria state, an area MP says.

Grace Abalang claims soldiers looted homes and beat young men and women, Radio Voice of Hope reports.

Abalang adds that at least ten youth have been detained in a military barrack in Torit.

Others are held at the Ikwoto military post, she says.

SPLA Spokesperson, Colonel Philip Aguer says he has not received any information about the alleged arrest of civilians.

The army arrested suspects in connection with the attack on barracks, confirms Mark Akio, Eastern Equatoria Information Minister.

The arrest came after angry civilians burnt down the barrack in Kapwata Village.

They accused the army of killing the County Engineer Lopus Athanasio.
