Over 80,000 people face humanitarian disaster in Mundri

Inter-faith Council for Peace in Western Equatoria State say about eighty thousand people are facing ‘humanitarian catastrophe’ in bushes and jungles of Greater Mundri.
 
The Council after visiting the area from October 29 to November 2, on Monday appeals to people of good will to urgently intervene to help the desperate situation of the displaced persons.
 
It laments that women and children are the most affected, exposed to hunger and various diseases.
 
The Council calls on citizens to participate in mobilizing food and be in solidarity with IDPs to enable their voices and stories heard.
 
It says they witnessed on Sunday three pregnant mothers lost their new born babies at birth.
 
The Council laments that it members saw thin children suffering from malnutrition and malaria due to poor living conditions.
 
It says ‘Mundri and its surrounding are already under a state of calamity and staggering thousands’.
 
The Inter-faith Council for Peace appeals to the parties to the crisis to stop military operations to allow humanitarian groups help the suffering people in Mundri.
