Communities of Ikwoto and Budi Counties in Eastern Equatoria and Kaabong District of Uganda believe security can improve through cross-border trade.
In a recent peace dialogue in Ikwoto County, the communities decided to establish markets within South Sudan and Uganda border region, Radio Emmanuel reported.
South Sudanese and Ugandans using the trading places have free access to services from both countries.
Torit Catholic Diocese Coordinator for Peace and Justice Fr John Opi Severino says opening of markets along the border areas aims to reduce crime.
He says the market days, three times a month rotate from Ikwoto, Budi and Kaabong.
