Fear grows as President Kiir prepares to sign East African treaty

Members of Parliament are panicking as President Salva Kiir gets ready to sign South Sudan into the East African Community at the end of November.
 
Parliamentarian Remijo Lasu is generally positive about the treaty.
 
But he expresses people’s worries over land occupation of South Sudan by the fast growing East African population.
 
MP Aleu Ayieng Aleu wonders how the treaty can resolve border conflicts with Uganda and Kenya.
 
MP Mary Kiden Kimbo fears that South Sudan might even come under Uganda’s administration.
 
Presidential Economic Advisor Aggrey Tisa Sabuni reminded the MPs that application for membership is for regional support in case of foreign aggression.
 
The United Nations Population Fund has indicators for the regional by 2050.
 
Kenya’s population is currently 44 million and will be 97 million.
 
Uganda’s population is currently 35 million and will be 47.
 
South Sudan currently with 11 million is expected to be 27 million.
