Church mediation initiative leadership has petitioned South Sudan government and SPLM/A-In-Opposition to respect and stick to ceasefire and peace agreement they signed in August this year.

Bishop Paul Pitia Yuggusuk in a strong worded pastoral statement on Wednesday demanded an end to hostilities and resumption of joint monitoring mechanism as stipulated in the IGAD-Plus Compromise Peace Agreement, Radio Bakhita reported.

The Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan Bishop leading in the mediation initiative voices the concerns of Central Equatoria’s Wonduruba, Katigiri, Mengele, Nyangwara and Dollo populace; crying for leadership intervention to stop atrocities inflicted upon them by fighters.

Over 12 thousand residents of Wonduruba have reportedly been displaced into bush hideouts and neighbouring counties since war triggered in the area in September this year.
