South Sudan National Bureau of Standards on Wednesday while marking World Standards Day recommitted to protect consumers’ health and promote trade to uplift the economy.
Bureau Executive Director Mary Gordon Mourtat says they adhere to consumers’ health protection, promotion of trade and preservation of the environment from pollution that degrades the land.
She laments that South Sudan does not even export water because local products have not met international standards.
South Sudan marks the World Standards Day for the first time in Juba on Wednesday.
‘World Standards Day’ is celebrated internationally each year on October 14 to honour the efforts of the thousands of experts who develop voluntary standards within standard development organizations such as the International Electro-technical Commission, International Organization for Standardization and International Telecommunication Union.
