National Education Ministry Deputy Minister says cultural aspects are barriers to girls’ education in South Sudan.
 
Bol Makueng observed that cultural traits including early marriages reduce girls enrollment in education, revealing that the Ministry is developing policies to educate parents on the importance of girl’s education, Radio Bakhita reported.
 
The Deputy Minister notes increase in the percentage of girl’s enrolment in schools, reechoing plans to establish boarding schools for girls to keep them away from domestic burden.
 
Mr Makueng advises parents to make their girls have access to education, urging girls to aim higher in learning for nation building.
 
The Deputy Minister spoke to Radio Bakhita in a telephone interview following International Day of Girls on Tuesday.
