Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference or SCBC Secretary-General says the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa or AMECEA raised funds for helping South Sudan Dioceses affected by the 2013 crisis.
Fr Jacob Odwa Paul told CRN on Tuesday after returning from AMECEA Secretary-Generals’ meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that the fund would be sent to help conflict hard hit dioceses.
He says some East African Bishops Secretariats in the AMECEA region raised 15 thousand US Dollars to support Dioceses of Malakal and Juba.
Fr Odwa says the young country is benefitting from AMECEA in many ways especially Ethiopia that built two schools for South Sudanese refugees in Gambella region.
The Secretary-General says US Catholic Bishops’ Conference capacity building to AMECEA second phase in 2016 would change to capacity strengthening because the region already has ability to manage its affairs.
