Security Council on Friday extended the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS mandate for two more months until December 15, urging inclusive dialogue towards lasting peace.
The Council advises the conflicting factions to implement the recently signed peace deal and adjust operation activities.
It requests the Secretary-General to prioritize the deployment of unarmed unmanned aerial systems and make available technical assistance for setting up a hybrid court as called for in the peace agreement.
The Council acknowledges the agreement on the resolution of the conflict in South Sudan, describing it the first step in reversing the ‘difficult’ political, economic situation, humanitarian and security ‘catastrophe.’
It also expresses readiness to take all necessary measures against those who jeopardize peace, stability and security in South Sudan.
The Council insists that those guilty of such acts or entities may be subjected to targeted sanctions.
