Yei County elects Joseph Brown Paramount Chief

Seventeen chiefs of Yei River democratically elected Joseph Brown Lomose County Paramount Chief in what observers described as ‘free and fair elections’.
 
Out of all the twenty chiefs including executive and sub chiefs who participated in the voting, Otogo Payam head Chief Justin Towongo got three votes, head Chief Justin Modi Mattia of Lasu Payam with four votes while Mugwo head chief Joseph Brown Lomose got 13 votes making him Paramount of the county, Radio Easter reported.
 
The new Paramount Chief hails his colleagues for voting him to serve citizens of Yei, pledging to cooperate with fellow chiefs.
 
County Women Association representative, Hawa Adams, calls on the chiefs to work for peace.
 
Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimu calls for collective work, warning chiefs against alcohol consumption.
 
Chiefs were given fifteen days to submit complaints against the newly elected paramount chief.
