Wau Teaching Hospital authorities reported recording 14 death cases out of 459 patients admitted of Malaria in August alone.

Hospital Pediatric Ward Doctor James Gabriel attributing the increase of the disease and deaths to late presentation of patients to health centres, Radio Voice of Hope reported.

He advised people to sleep under treated mosquito nets, telling sick people to report early to Primary Health Care Centres as the ministry distributed drugs for treatment.

One of the mothers, Carmela Paul, whose baby girl was admitted after suffering from malaria at Wau Teaching Hospital, said her children were admitted more than four times this year alone though she does all necessary preventive measures against malaria.

Another mother, Gisma Omar, said her efforts to prevent malaria were frustrated and that disease is becoming more resistant to most of the drugs.
