Government launches work permit smart card

The national Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Human Resources Development on Thursday launched work permit smart card under the to combat malpractices.
 
Vice President James Wani Igga in his opening remarks, described the initiative as essential to generate revenues to the government and assist the taxation system, Radio Bakhita reported.
 
Labour and Public Service Minister Ngor Kolong Ngor said the smart card would assist the government to get taxes and regulate foreigners working in the country.
 
Undersecretary at the Ministry Hellen Achiro Lotara cautioned that without the work permit smart card system, the country would lose a lot of resources.
 
The system which is the first of its kind in the country is being implemented by SIF Tech Limited, a technical partner of the Labour, Public Service and Human Resource Development Ministry.
