Mother of Mercy Hospital in Heiban County of Nuba Mountains is carrying out HIV and AIDS awareness campaign after one hundred and twenty people tested positive.
Speaking to Radio Voice of Peace on Thursday nurse Stephen Yousif Saed says the campaign begins with Karumba Mixed Secondary School in Kauda and Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School in Gidel.
He notes that HIV was discovered in the hospital since 2009 after five patients were test positive.
The nurse said the disease is transmitted through sexual intercourse with infected person, blood transfusion and sharing sharp objects with infected person, advising community members especially youth to be faithful to their partners.
He suspects that hundreds of people might be living with HIV in the area.
