Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO says government rejection to the withdrawal of the Uganda People’s Defence Force or UPDF’s from South Sudan is contradicting the signed peace agreement.
CEPO Executive Director Edmond Yakani says in their first monitoring report on the agreement they noted ceasefire violations including clashes in Upper Nile between the two parties and continuous trade accusations by the warring parties.
He appreciates President Salva Kiir for briefing his military commanders, describing it as a positive move, expecting Dr Riek Machar to take the same move.
The Director appeals to the two conflict factions to have political will in Addis Ababa’s workshop to reach a genuine permanent and transitional security arrangement’s resolutions that cannot return the country to violence.
Mr Yakani called on the two parties not to antagonize many issues of demilitarization.
