The Citizen Newspaper closure forced Editor in Chief on Wednesday to announce relieving seventy-five staff from work due to the ban imposed on the media house.
Nhial Bol Aken said the management can not sustain the staff without income as the media house only generates income from sales, advertisements to pay salaries, Radio Bakhita reported.
He lamented that it was painful to layoff journalists as they will meet many challenges in their daily subsistence and that some who are parents will find it difficult to educate their children.
The Chief Editor advised the relieved journalists to stay calm until concerned authorities direct the media house to resume publication.
The Citizen TV a subsidiary of the Newspaper also went off air with its employees included in the dismissal because most of its services are funded by the Newspaper.
