The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO Director-General condemns the murder of The Corporate Newspaper’s journalist Moi Peter Julius, tasking authorities to investigate the case thoroughly in the interest of press freedom and rule of law.

Irina Bokova in a statement says journalists must be able to practice their profession in safe conditions as citizens rely on the media.

Moi Peter Julius who was shot on his way home after work earlier worked with the independent New Nation newspaper and was working for the Corporate bi-monthly Newspaper until the time of his death.

The killing of Moi came days after President Salva Kiir threatened journalists with death if they continue writing articles against the nation.
