South Sudan commemorates World Humanitarian Day

South Sudan humanitarian community is on Wednesday joining the rest of the globe to commemorate World Humanitarian Day to remember all people who lost their lives in charitable service and celebrate the spirit that inspires humanitarian work on the planet.
 
United Nations Officer for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs or UNOCHA in a note CRN got on Tuesday said in Juba, humanitarian partners mark the day with a commemorative event at Landmark Hotel under the global theme: ‘Inspire the World’s Humanity’.
 
It said the Day offers an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of humanity that inspires the solidarity of host communities and efforts of aid workers to help people in dire need in South Sudan.
 
UNOCHA added that Humanitarian Coordinator for South Sudan Eugene Owusu and representatives of the humanitarian community are expected to address a press conference marking the occasion.
 
Every day in South Sudan, host communities and humanitarian local and international partners provide assistance to conflict-upended people.
 
South Sudanese make up the vast majority of humanitarians working in challenging conditions and at times risking their lives to deliver aid in the most remote corners of the country.
