Western Equatoria State civil society organizations, political parties and stakeholders are calling for amendments to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD Plus Compromise Agreement proposal on security and power sharing to resolve the conflict in South Sudan.
Before handing over to the State Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro, team Secretary Richard Zizi read out the statement, rejecting the power sharing within SPLM because the party was reunified through the Arusha agreement, Radio Anisa reported.
The statement recommends separation of the two armies for six months prior to reintegration, reconciliation and preparation committee instead of hybrid court in South Sudan.
State Governor Bakosoro welcomed and supported the document, promising to forward the views of the people of Western Equatoria to concerned national authorities.
In a related news development the Governor while addressing the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches’ two-day peace crusade in Yambio on Sunday, called on citizens to forgive and be united whenever problems happen.
He urged the faithful to change and become good citizens.
