Residents in Torit town of Eastern Equatoria after a workshop organized by South Sudan Law Society in partnership with United Nations Development Programme or UNDP in Torit on Tuesday, propose church leaders to initiate reconciliation process in the country after the warring parties sign peace agreement.
Talking to Radio Emmanuel, some respondents say woman should also be involved due to their non-partisan position in conflict situations.
South Sudan Law Society Legal Aid Officer Oromo Jimmy says the workshop was to discuss findings of a perception survey conducted in seven states entitled: ‘Perceptions of truth, justice, reconciliation and healing in South Sudan’.
In the survey, some respondents agree with IGAD protocol that individuals found to have committed atrocity; war crimes and crimes against humanity should not be given public offices.
