SPLM Spokesperson accused the former detainees of violating the Arusha Reunification Agreement by participating in the peace talks ongoing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as an independent entity.
Akol Paul Kordit in an interview to South Sudan Television on Sunday evening said the presence of the former detainees headed by Pagan Amum Okiech in the talks undermines the agreement because they were reinstated into the party.
He said SPLM Juba faction would communicate the issue to the Agreement guarantors’ including Tanzanian ruling party Chama Chama MPundusi to know the breach the former detainees committed.
The Spokesperson said the Arusha Agreement implementation is progressing to address issues of the party’s reformation.
Earlier Government Spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth told the press in Addis Ababa that they deleted the former detainees from the talks because they are part and parcel of the SPLM in the regime.
He said they rejected SPLM in Opposition demand of 70 percent, giving government 20 percent and ten percent to the other political parties, saying the regime should get the upper hand because now it controls many parts of the country.
