South Sudan artists campaign for peace in Torit

Seven South Sudan musicians on Saturday staged an exciting show under the theme: ‘Re-awaking our common call for peace among South Sudanese’ at Torit Freedom Square in a bid to champion for peace in the country.
 
TEENCO Coordinator Daniel Mukaya who spearheaded the peace music concert says the song call ‘Affi’ means ‘forgive: let us forgive ourselves and the blood that we are shedding is the same blood’, Radio Emmanuel reporter.
 
He says the song reminds South Sudanese not to kill and have a forgiving heart if someone wronged anyone.
 
National Platform for Peace and Reconciliation Coordinator William Ongoro says the campaign expected to last for six months aims to gather voices and share experiences with youth on how they would like the country to be.
 
Eastern Equatoria state government officials, Torit Mayor Martin Odeki and County Commissioner German Charles Ojok opened the event.
