Hundreds of faithful gathered at Wau Catholic Cathedral on Thursday to commemorate Martyrs Day praying for successful liberation of South Sudan.
Presiding over the Eucharistic celebration, Vicar General Fr Germano Bernardo, calls on South Sudanese to take good example from martyrs by making great efforts, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
He asks the national and state governments to maintain security and protect citizens for peaceful life.
Fr Germano points out that tribalism disintegrates South Sudanese as he appeals for unity to uphold the vision of late Dr John Garang.
He wonders why South Sudanese leaders are fighting for power that claims thousands of lives of their own people.
