Christians of Our Lady of Assumption parish in Torit Catholic Diocese are preparing for August 15 to celebrate the feast of their patron under the theme: ‘Together let us celebrate womanhood, together let us dignify motherhood, together let us celebrate mother of God’.
Parish priest Noel Uguagwu says his Christians planned a range of activities for the feast including football match on Wednesday between Arabic and English choir as the first activity, Radio Emmanuel reported.
He says the match organized by the parish and coordinated by Eastern Equatoria State Referees Association is for the youth to display their God given talents at Torit Freedom Square.
Fr Ugwagwu explains that they scheduled August 14 for public lecture at Fr Saturlino Hall on ‘the girl-child, endangered species in South Sudan and way forward’.
He adds that the lecture is expected to conclude with peace charity walk in form of rosary procession.
The Parish priest says Torit Catholic Diocese Apostolic Administrator Monsignor Thomas Oliha Tiya is expected to lead women’s symbolic lighting of candles.
He says on Saturday August 15, the feast day of Our Lady of Assumption, Christians will celebrate thanksgiving mass.
