Civil society asks warring parties to consult on compromise peace deal

Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO Executive Director calls on South Sudan government and SPLM/A in Opposition or SPLM/A-IO to make wider consultations with public stakeholders on the IGAD Plus compromise peace deal proposal.
 
Edmund Yakani on Saturday told the press in Juba that the warring negotiating teams have time to consult beyond their circles as instructed by IGAD Plus mediators to consider public opinion on the peace deal proposal, Radio Bakhita reported.
 
He says as a civil society activist he welcomes the IGAD Plus proposed compromise agreement on the resolution of South Sudan conflict with appreciation that the mediators yearn to see peace restoration in the country.
 
Director Yakani says the proposed compromise peace agreement for Transitional Government of National Unity is based on previous items of peace talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Arusha, Tanzania about SPLM party reunification agreement.
 
CEPO calls on African Union or AU Peace and Security Council to make public the outcome of its ministerial meeting held on July 23rd 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Commission of Inquiry Report on South Sudan conflict.
 
IGAD Plus mediation comprises of IGAD member states, AU, UN, EU, China and Troika including US, Norway and UK.
