Sixty-three primary schools in Yei Municipality on Wednesday started measurement of both boys and girls for the football tournament due to start next week.
Boys will undergo measurements while the girls would be determined on their physical appearance as they start the first football competition, Radio Easter reported.
Municipal Co-Curriculum Supervisor John Wesley says the tournament seeks to develop talents and promote peace and unity, urging the pupils to demonstrate punctuality.
County Girl Child Coordinator Mary Zachariah Lasuba congratulates girls for participating for the first time in football and asks them to maintain respect and desist from fighting.
Block Education Supervisor Christopher Khamis Wani discourages malpractice and fighting after losing, threatening to take tough steps against indiscipline schools and pupils.
The leaders made the statements on Wednesday during the official opening of the measurements in Yei under the theme: ‘Fair play, promote love unity, peace, gender equality and development’.
