Safer World Organization on Tuesday gathered seventy-three community members and government officials in Yambio for two-day dialogue conference on land conflict.

Western Equatoria State Physical Infrastructure and Public Utilities Minister Clement Juma Mbugoniwia emphasizes that land is the most important resource for communities and the government.

He cites land allocation as a major problem in the state because both local leaders and the government allocate land and sometimes one piece can be given to more than two people.

Safer World Country Program Manager Khirad Kargasov says during the two-day dialogue conference, communities would share some of their grievances, while authorities inform them on some land management rules and regulations for both to develop a plan to tackle those issues.

He recalls that Safer World did similar dialogue in the Southern part of Uganda and the outcome was positive.

Mr Kargasov adds that since September 2014, they analyzed and identified land conflict as the major community insecurity in Yambio County.
