The Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba has discovered that government is responsible for damaging the national economy as some of its senior officials own herds of cattle driven all the way from Bahr El Ghazal region to the extreme borders of Equatoria region with Uganda to disrupt crop farming.

Bishop Santo Loku Pio says unless communal attacks, robbery, land grabbing and cattle pastoralists’ movement destroying crops are ended, chaos is likely to continue rocking the country, Radio Bakhita reported.

He recommends immediate repatriation of cattle herds from Equatoria to Bahr El Ghazal region, wondering how economic crisis in the country can be overcome through agriculture when crop farming continues to be hampered by roaming cattle herders.

Bishop Loku advises South Sudanese to take the message of peace, love and reconciliation among God created communities seriously regardless of cost or outcome.

The bishop in his homily at St Theresa’s Cathedral English Congregation laments about the plight of Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs in United Nations protection sites.
