The national Council of Ministers on Friday’s regular sitting approved over ten Billion South Sudanese Pounds for the fiscal year 2015/2016 budget, ranking security and civil servants’ salary as top priorities.
Acting Government Spokesperson Rachel Nyadak Paul tells the press in Juba that the cabinet scrutinizes all ministerial needs to arrive at the approval of ten billion, eight hundred forty-two, three hundred and sixteen thousand and three hundred and twenty-five pounds as proposed by Finance & Economic Planning Minister Deng Athorbei.
She adds that the budget proposal for fiscal year 2015/2016 is slightly below previous budgets due to economic crisis.
The Acting Spokesperson also Deputy Information & Broadcasting Minister explains that the cabinet has top prioritized security for government consolidation.
Spokesperson Nyadak discloses that other priorities featuring in the national budget include government employees’ salaries, humanitarian aid, agriculture and other affordable income generating projects.
She says the Council of Ministers has moved responsible Cabinet Ministers to control movement of vehicles through Juba International Airport and the Ministries’ Complex to maximize security or generate incomes.
