In a first time education Conference on National and Foreign Languages on Tuesday in Juba focusing: ‘Unity in diversity through multilingualism for a peaceful South Sudan’, the Education Minister approved the implementation of inclusion of various languages in school curriculum.
Dr John Gai Yoh tells the conference that the usage of various national and foreign languages in school curriculum restores unity in diversity among communities in the country, Radio Bakhita reported.
The Minister calls on government officials to take responsibility in implementing the initiative of incorporating native languages in education as enshrined in the transitional constitution.
Cabinet Affairs Minister Dr Martin Elia Lomurö on behalf of President Salva Kiir Mayardit says the conference proves South Sudanese as free people who organize themselves on cultural basis.
He believes language is a fundamental part of culture, urging education policy implementers to carry out the task to transform the country.
The four-day conference has attracted over 50 participants from the state and national levels.
