Cholera treatment centres set up in Juba

Following the confirmation of cholera outbreak in Juba County of Central Equatoria State, the national Health Minister says treatment centres have been established in Juba Teaching Hospital and IMC clinic in UN House civilian protection site.
 
Dr Riek Gai Kok adds that the Health Cluster has mobilized necessary requirements for cholera treatment centre in UN House civilian protection site in the event of a full scale outbreak.
 
Out of 61 stool samples collected from cholera suspects and tested in the National Public Health Laboratory, 18 cases have been confirmed in Juba.
 
18 deaths of cholera cases from nine facilities and nine communities have been reported.
 
The Health Ministry advises the general public to report any severe watery diarrhoea to a designated treatment centre or call cholera hotline: 0912000098.
 
The ministry also reminds masses to strictly maintain hygiene and eat fresh food.
