The Association for Media Development in South Sudan or AMDISS in liaison with the Information & Broadcasting Ministry is spearheading a move to certify journalists’ operation in Juba before June 27, 2015.

AMDISS Secretary Nhial Bol Aken on Tuesday refutes speculations that the accreditation initiative is a treachery hatching between the media association and government National Security Service, Radio Bakhita reported.

He maintains that it is the right time to accredit media practitioners amidst security odds.

AMDISS Chairman Alfred Taban says the accreditation aims at resolving rampant mistreatment and harassment of journalists to operate with efficiency during events like independence celebration.

He believes with the accreditation, journalists will not be barred from meeting or approaching the president.

The accreditation of journalists’ agendum is generating heated debates among media practitioners and security personnel in South Sudan.
