Lakes State Legislative Assembly in a strange move over the week renewed the tenure of the gubernatorial rule of long serving Caretaker Governor Major-General Matur Chut Dhuol and the legislature for three years, elapsing in July 9, 2018.
Good News Radio reports that Lakes State tenure amendment was odd, happening in the absence of the Assembly Speaker who was allegedly barred from office on orders of the State SPLM Chairman.
The tenure amendment has become inevitable in South Sudan states to allow the executive and legislature to legitimize their rule.
