A new cement plant project launched in Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria State on Thursday is expected to employ 6000 staff members for construction of 50-mega watts power plant, building of health centres, schools, multipurpose sports stadium and roads.
The project will be run by Central Equatoria Mining and Cement or CEMAC LTD with joint funding undertaken by the national, state governments and foreign investors.
The 400 million dollars investment overall project comes from a consortium of foreign investors from Europe and Middle East expected to produce one million tons of cement per annum.
The national and state governments hold 30 percent share from the foreign owned investment company.
CEMAC LTD Chief Executive Officer Dr Gilles Assouline says the project brings peace, education and prosperity to the country.
Central Equatoria State Deputy Governor Manase Lomole Waya launched the Kajo-Keji Cement Plant Project at Kigwo Boma of Kangapo I Payam on Thursday, urging residents to share the 6000 employment opportunities with other nationals and foreigners.
