Report says the number of people seeking refuge at United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS in Bentiu camp Unity State has risen to more than 70 thousand.
UNMISS report says some 19,735 people entered the camp since the end of April pushing the total number from 52,908 to 72,643 as of June 5 when a headcount was conducted by Médecins Sans Frontiere or MSF.
The report cites the Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs influx in Unity State rising is due to an escalation in military activities.
UNMISS notes that food distribution in May covered more than 86,000 IDPs in the Protection of Civilians or PoC site and non-POC residents from Bentiu and Rubkona towns.
The ongoing relocation of IDPs to the newly extended site is progressing with more than eight thousand transfers expected to be completed by the first week of July.
