Wau Municipal Council and fuel station dealers in Western Bahr El Ghazal on Monday disagreed in fixing a common fare price.

Wau Mayor Livio Gelego Bahara says petrol stations were storing fuel to create shortages and make abnormal profit, forcing the government to fix prices for the good of consumers, Radio Voice of Hope reported.

The Mayor says petrol stations’ choice to close down cannot reverse government decision but would be a crime since the committee would inspect the stations.

Nile Petroleum Station Manager in Wau Bak Bak John says the decision was unilateral and could affect their profits.

The Manager denies that petrol stations make hoarding but that issues of Dollar and poor roads are some causes of price hiking.

Petrol stations refused to operate for almost 24 hours before they could re-start late evening on Monday.
