South Sudan Churches dedicate Fridays and Sundays to fasting and peace prayer for one month ahead of independence in line with Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO’s campaign for peace.
 
CEPO Executive Director Edmond Yakani declares June 9 and July 9 for peace campaign, focusing on public rallies in the state capitals around South Sudan except Malakal of Upper Nile and Bentiu of Unity States due to insecurity.
 
He discloses that the campaign aims at raising people’s voices on their plans towards the peace process.
 
Mr Yakani reminds the warring parties to commit themselves to the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.
 
The Executive Director says the national government is responsibility to protect lives of civilians and ensure response in case of any insecurity for citizens to feel safe.
