Twenty former street children on Friday graduated on hair cutting, metal fabrication and carpentry after six-month training at Riakdoor Vocational Training Center in Rumbek, Lakes State.

Save the Children in partnership with Lakes State Labour and Public Service ministry introduced the initiative to discourage the children from street to self-reliant life.

Labour and Public Service minister Abraham Mayen told Radio Good News that the government would continue to recruit kids who want jobs or activities.

Save the Children International Program Manager Michael Nyogu discloses that they felt the compassion to include the children in the program in order to make them feel that they are still part of the society.

Riakdoor Vocational Training Center has so far 49 percent self employed students including former street children since it was established in 2003.
