The National Legislative Assembly ratifies the Convention for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, 2003 instituted by UNESCO.

Information, Culture Committee member Paul Yoane Bonju while presenting the Convention report for ratification reminds legislators that it conforms to South Sudan Constitution, 2011 provision granting freedom of culture, ethnicity and practice of beliefs and languages.

The Convention for Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage is expected by law to come into force to South Sudan three months after the deposit of its instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession.
