Parliament defers Martyrs’ Family Fund Bill 2015

The National Legislative Assembly suspends the passage of Martyrs’ Family Fund Bill 2015 until further notice pending public hearing to clarify some anomalies in its definition.
 
Deputy Speaker Mark Nyipuoc rules on Wednesday after controversial deliberations that the Bill should be deferred for public hearing to put legislators on a safer side of history.
 
Jonglei State Member of Parliament Professor Ajang Bior criticizes the Martyrs’ Family Fund Bill 2015 for lacking definition of a martyr and a child, saying it lacks specification on which war since war is ongoing in South Sudan.
 
Warrap State MP Aleu Ayieng Aleu blasts the so called Martyrs’ Family Fund Bill for posing confusion without distinction of orphans, widows and the wounded survivors.
 
The Bill suspension comes in the second reading with questions whether a widow of a martyr remarried to somebody should be considered for the fund.
