Security and Defence Ministers call for mental disarmament

National Security and Defence Ministers on Monday appeared before the Council of States with a call for mental disarmament and political engagement with the civil population as the most strategic way to minimize insurgencies.
 
Isaac Mamur Obuto Mete tells Council of States members that there is trouble in the country because of lack of transformation in the ruling party and the army.
 
Minister Mamur cites Juba Administration detachment from the civil population as the cause of lack of control and that SPLM/A in Opposition leader Dr Riek Machar Teny strategizes to woo Equatoria region to fight with him as he believes without it no war can be won in South Sudan.
 
Defence Minister Kuol Manyang Juuk recommends senators to pay visits to war frontlines to speak to the army as a sort of motivation and advisory.
 
The Council of States chaired by Speaker Joseph Bol Chan after listening to speeches of the Security and Defence Ministers resolves to form an ad hoc committee to investigate and independently verify insecurity problem in Mundri West County of Western Equatoria State.
