An Advocate on Tuesday urges South Sudanese to update some harmful traditions to match the national and human rights laws.

Jane Lukudu Jambu told CRN that some traditions in the country allow a rape victim to marry her rapist as it is against the law because the perpetrator must be tried in the court to face punishment.

She advises the public to report rape cases to police, take the victim to a recognized hospital for a medical checkup and follow up legal procedures against the perpetrator.

The Advocate appeals to parents, especially mothers to take good care of their girls at home to prevent them from being raped.
