WES cabinet condemns Mundri West Director’s assassination

Western Equatoria State Council of Ministers strongly condemns the assassination of Mundri West County Executive Director John Keliopa on Friday, ordering immediate investigation into the killing.
 
Information Minister Charles Barnaba Kisanga reports that some SPLA soldiers laid an ambush on Maridi-Rumbek road on Thursday evening where serious fighting took place overnight, Radio Anisa reported.
 
He states that unknown gunmen opened fire on Mundri West authorities, including the County Commissioner at around 9:20 AM on Friday when they were carrying investigation at the scene.
 
The Information Minister recalls that the late John Keliopa was the Acting Commissioner of Mundri West who worked tirelessly and expelled cattle keepers causing insecurity in the state.
 
Defenders reports that two of the soldiers who carried out the ambush were killed and some wounded.
