Yei Municipality on Friday trained Chiefs and religious leaders on reporting mechanisms and skills to address gender-based violence and child abuse at the local level.

Deputy Mayor Silvano Ali Sanguson in his opening remarks, urges participants to protect children and women from abuses, telling parents to ensure that children enjoy their rights to better shelter, freedom expression and education, Radio Easter reported.

Municipal Assistant Inspector of Gender Child and Social Welfare Apayi Zabibu says improper reporting technique picked their interest to train religious, community leaders and chiefs who are always close with local communities.

The Assistant Inspector calls for cooperation between local leaders and the authority to mitigate crimes.
