Caritas South Sudan President says the charitable organization of the Catholic Church in the young country got a lion’s share when the Confederation of Caritas Internationalis accepted it as a new member.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe, who participated in the 20th Caritas Internationalis General Assembly between May 11 and 17 in Rome, Italy after arrival in Juba on Friday, describes South Sudan’s membership as the best in the history of the Confederation.
He says Caritas South Sudan was approved by 136 voters after Caritas Internationalis recognized its long struggle near people at tough moments.
The President earlier describes their journey to Rome as very well, saying they started with the meeting of Caritas Africa followed by Caritas Internationalis that attracted more than 160 participants across the world.
Bishop Lodu says Caritas South Sudan faced no objection during the voting process and also participated to elect executive committee members of Confederation of Caritas Internationalis.
