Yei River County and Municipal Education authorities punished Rash, Day Star and Excel Boarding Secondary Schools after their players showed disruptive behavior by fighting referees and malpractice during the recently concluded football and volley tournaments.
The tournaments’ organizing committee chairperson Gobfine Afimani says the schools were charged to pay 50 percent of the affiliation fees, an additional fine of one thousand South Sudanese Pounds and the referees’ treatment bills, Radio Easter reported.
He cautions that any failure to respond before May 15 deadlines, would lead to banning of schools from tournaments.
Mr Afimani calls on schools to portray maximum sports discipline in the upcoming athletics competition and desist from fighting and malpractice.
Sixteen secondary schools participated in Yei April’s volleyball and football tournaments under the theme ‘Free and fair play to promote peaceful coexistence, gender equity and unity’.
