Korean Actor to visit South Sudan on UN campaign

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or UNHCR in Seoul, Korea says its ‘honorary advocate’ and actor is expected to visit South Sudan next week to raise public awareness on humanitarian crisis.
 
UNHCR a statement on Tuesday says actor Jung Woo-sung plans to visit IDPs and refugee camps in Unity State and Juba from May 18-22 to bring interest in the situation in South Sudan to more people.
 
UNHCR head in Korea Dirk Hebecker hopes more Koreans would get to know the situation in South Sudan and sympathize with the plight of the displaced people through Jung Woo-sung.
 
He notes that UNHCR’s ‘honorary advocate’ role in publicizing the urgent need for help.
 
UN estimates that more than 1.5 million people remain displaced in South Sudan due to war and that the country also hosts 262 thousand refugees from neighboring nations.
