A gynecologist condemns cutting of female organ – female genital mutilation or FGM, describing it as senseless inhumane practice and against women’s rights.
Festo Jambo Elias who is also a lecturer at the University of Juba, College of Medicine told CRN on Tuesday that FGM reduces women from sexual activities, warning that the practice creates more problems, including difficulty in child birth, infections and bleeding among others.
He terms the practice ‘a serious social problem’, stressing the need for sex education, urging the government to impose laws and imprison practitioners.
Dr Festo advises parents to keep their children in school by buying them basic needs to prevent them from being used for materials sake, criticizing that many people practicing FGM have no medical background.
The gynecologist informs citizens to stop imposing very dangerous practices on women.
