The Office of the President says about six thousand internally displaced persons or IDPs in United Nations Mission in South Sudan civilian protection site in Juba were pushed out, proving that they lost the Mission’s safety.

Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny told journalists in Juba on Monday that the three-day fighting in UNMISS camp that started on Friday and ended on Sunday, claims many lives and wounded more than 200 IDPs.

Mr Ateny accuses the UN Security forces of watching and taking pictures while the IDPs were harming themselves, lamenting that children of those pushed away from the camp could not be reunited to their parents.

The Press Secretary calls on the international community to ensure bring to book UN forces who were watching the fight without taking action to stop the violence, urging UN to stop its project of hosting IDPs if they are no longer protecting them.

The UN Mission in South Sudan on Tuesday in a statement says one person was killed on Sunday, about 60 more injured and an estimated 3,500 IDPs were re-displaced.
