The Office of the President of the Republic describes the resolution of the recent SPLM/A in Opposition’s Pagak conference that termed the Salva Kiir’s government ‘illegitimate’ as ‘mere war rhetoric’.

Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny told journalists on Saturday in Juba that government’s priority is peaceful settlement of the crisis.

He Ateny says South Sudanese in the 2010 democratic elections mandated President Kiir to lead the country which now is extended for three years.

The Press Secretary says ‘any talk of illegitimacy was just a political ploy in an attempt to fish in the murky water’.

Mr Wek clarifies that on April 29; the Juba Telegraph misquoted President Kiir during the graduation of the Juba University as saying ‘use knowledge to transform society’.

He tells the Juba Telegraph Newspaper’s readers and those who came across the same story online to discard the statement, saying it did not come from the President.
